Oruro is a city in the Oruro Department of Bolivia, famous for its carnival. It's been a major mining centre and railway hub, but with the closing of the mine and with more and more rail connections ceasing, the town is about to lose its importance. Oruro is well connected with La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and Potosi as well as countries like Argentina, Chile and Peru.

By Bus


There are several bus companies that connect Oruro with the different Bolivian cities with daily schedules and departures every 30 minutes to the different cities.


La Paz - Oruro by Bus


Daily departures from 6:30 in the morning to 22:00 are available, in Carnival time more buses and more departures are available, and practically 24h service is available from and to La Paz.

Cochabamba - Oruro by Bus


Daily departures from 6:30 in the morning to 22:00 are available, in Carnival time more buses and more departures are available practically 24h service is available from and to Cochabamba.


*Recommended bus Companies: Trans Azul, Naser, Danubio, Trans Copacabana.


Potosi - Oruro by Bus


Daily departures at 07:00, 11:00, 13:30, 22:00 and 22:30 in Carnival time more buses and more departures are available.


*Recommended bus Companies: Trans Azul and Bustillos.


Arica (Chile) - Oruro by Bus


Daily departures at 07:00, 11:00, 13:30, 22:00 and 22:30.

Iquique (Chile) - Oruro by Bus


Daily departures at 07:00, 11:00, 13:30, 22:00 and 22:30

It is also possible to buy in Oruro Terminal tickets towards Argentina and different cities within like, Salta, Tucuman, Buenos Aires or the border Villazon city.


By train


Traveling by train is one of the most comfortable ways to travel to or from Oruro city. There are two kinds of trains leaving Oruro towards Uyuni, Atocha, Villazon or Tupiza, the most comfortable is Expreso del Sur with departures on Tuesdays and Fridays at 3:30pm and Wara Wara which departs on Sundays and Wednesdays.


By Plane


Oruro city has no airport operating at the moment. However there are some flights we can offer to shorten your travel by traveling by plane towards the closest city to Oruro with an operating Airport.
